DRY NEEDLING

Home > News & Tips > Uncategorized

Dry Needling therapy began around the early 1900’s but quickly developed as a useful and very safe treatment option for patients suffering from soft tissue pain and sports injuries.

Dry Needling is useful in relieving pain originating from many sources especially local muscle trigger points also known Myofascial Trigger Points. Placing an acupuncture needle into these points relieves pain. It causes release of endorphins, increases the blood supply to the region & causes relaxation of muscle fibres.

Dry Needling also triggers a normal physiological reaction by the body to repair the damaged tissue. This process involves the immune, endocrine & cardiovascular systems. Dry Needling accelerates the body’s physiological response and natural repair mechanisms.

It should be noted that although many trigger points are found at the same sites as Acupuncture points, there is no relationship between Dry Needling therapy & Acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture treatment is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine paradigm & involves placing needles into acupoints.

At Mount Isa Physio, we use Dry needling as one modality to help relieve your symptoms and resolve the underlying cause. Don’t let issues become chronic. Get the right advise first and get on with life!
